Follow-up

This post is the end of my assignment.  :-)

As I have learned a lot throughout this challenge.  I have also learned that I do not have the passion for blogging.  I have learned that I don't even like to read blogs.  LOL I tried to read and follow some other blogs that are on Blogger.  I did this to get an idea of what I was intended to do.  Most people use it asa journal, more or less.

In my previous posts I covered my 30-day challenge.  Failing at it and trying it again.  Learning more about myself as the challenge went on.  Thinking at times... why are we doing this?  what does this have to do with writing?

Well let me tell you!

My teacher is very creative.  At the beginning of this class she explained how there are so many different medias out there and during her class we would be using some of those to do our writing.  I can tell you, form this experience, I don't fully understand WHY we have so many medias to look at on a screen.  What ever happened to the newspaper??  Reading a book for entertainment?? Why do we need them?  But this is a different discussion entirely.

Throughout my time doing this blog, I found a video on creativity and school.  This video is on how schools kill creativity.  And I have to agree with it full heartedly.  I was one of those kids in class that would draw on her work.  Tests, notes, scratch paper, and basically anything I could.  I did this up until I was in middle school.  I wasn't allowed to draw on my tests or notes.  No papers could be turn in for credit with 'marks' on them.  I would be deducted points or the teacher wouldn't accept my work. I don't, to this day, understand why.  Creativity is a gift that most people nowadays do not have.

Being a naturally creative person, I love that my teacher made our class do a blog on a 30-day challenge.  I see it as unconventional but maybe her way of teaching will spread and there could be more creativity in the world.

I may not have successfully completed my challenge and I may not completely agree with the Blogger world, but I enjoyed this!!

Why I stopped the Challenge!

In my last post,  I informed everyone that I would not be continuing the challenge.   Most of the people in my class the challenge ended on the 24th of March.  If you look back at my blog posts, you will see that I had restarted my challenge.

One of the reasons I restarted my challenge was due to life getting in the way.
One, I am an outdoorsy person and I do not and will not put on make up to go out into the wild!  :-) I spend most if not all of my free time outside.
Two, I am a supervisor at my work and I take my work very seriously.  Most days I am at work very late and tend to be home until 3am.  In doing this, I sleep most of the morning away and by the time I am getting ready for work again I do not feel like doing my make-up or spending time on my hair.

Reason number two, I learned that I am still not the type to want to wake-up and spend time on my make-up.
Where most women in the world feel the need to put on make-up everyday, I am over here being one of the women in the world that feels all it does is clog my face.  When I first started moving up in my company, Marriott, one of the first things my general manager said to me about moving up was to always wear lipstick.  I do always carry a tube of lipstick and lipgloss.  Other than that, I normally will not put on foundation, concealer, or powder.

The above reasons are the same reasons I decided to stop the challenge completely.

If you look back to my About Me page, you will read that the reason I chose to do this type of challenge was do to spend more time on myself.  I was looking to finish recovering from the depressed state I was in two years ago.  Through out this challenge I have realized that I already do this.
I read books.  I draw. I color in those "adult" coloring books.  I workout at the gym with headphones in my ears.  I cook. I sew and crochet. I do a ton of things that I do for me and by myself.

I know now that I didn't need a "last push".  I am already happy and am not depressed and I do not need the extra focus on me.  I already have all of these things.

Through out this Challenge

Within this challenge I was hoping to blog everyday.  This, obviously, has not happened.

In my last post, I mentioned I was going to start over and try this challenge again.  So far, I have not yet been able to complete my 30-day challenge for any consecutive days.  I will do my hair and make-up one day and then not do it the next couple of days.  This has been a constant routine through out this challenge for me.

Below I have posted some of the accomplished days that I took pictures on.  Some of the pictures include using temporary hair dyes and extensions.

I have decided not to continue the challenge.

This decision was made do to what I have learned throughout trying to complete the challenge itself.  I will go into details in my next post. :-)

Within the First Week

I started out strong.  I think.  I wanted to post every day of my challenge.  Unfortunately, work and life got in the way.

I tried on a couple of days this week to do my make-up and hair fully.  I just don't know how some people do it.  I have figured out, in the first week of the challenge, that I do not hold hair and make-up on my priority list.  Maybe it is not a matter of finding the time but a matter of actually wanting to take the extra 30 to 40 min every day to accomplish this task.

I plan to start over this week.  I will tell you that I will not be doing it Monday.  I will not even be going to the gym on Monday.  I have class in the morning and then have to rush to work right after to be in a meeting.  Life!!!

At the beginning of last week, I thought.... maybe I should change my 30-day challenge?  I am dedicated to working out more than I am to this challenge.  I will tell you, I am currently in a 30-day challenge(I started before I started this one) to get myself to go back to the gym.  But I can do it all!! It just may take me more than 30-days to complete this school assigned challenge.

As for this challenge, it is the focus of helping me recover from depression.  Depression is known to cause deep rooted damage in people who become depressed.  No one is ever born depressed.  This happens over time and mainly with a series of events that cause our brain to try to adjust.  By adjusting and trying to cope with whatever it is, our brains may go into a state of imbalance or sadness.  This is what causes depression.  The recovery time depends on the individual person.  I believe, as of right now, this 3-day challenge is not doing anything for me.  Maybe is is just going to take more time then I think it will.  BUT!!! I don't give up on anything.  So... I will try my best to continue this challenge and see if my thoughts about it will change.

Day 1 (Part 2)

I know this is late!

I am already off to a bad start with this Blog thing.  LOL

I got off work at 1:30am and I have to be back at work at 8:30am.  It takes me 40min to get home from work....  You do the math.  I am tired.  :-)

Make-up from Day1

I did my whole face.  I mixed my moisturizer with my foundation for a quicker application.  I did not really enjoy doing it this way.  Also!!! I did my eyebrows.  I do not normally do my eyebrows.  This was the first time! I think I did a decent job but I did not like them that much.  I don't think I will do them again.  :-)  For my eyeshadow I chose natural shades.  I was going for the 'everyday' look.  Lipstick is a nude color.

Hair from Day 1

I made a front 'bump' and put my hair into a high ponytail.  I add the purple bow to make it a little fun.  I actually like this style more so than my normal ponytail.  :-)

I took these pictures when I got home from work.  So, I do apologize for the terrible lighting.  It's the best I could get at 2am.

For this day, I felt rushed and doing my make-up and hair did not make me feel any different than any other day.  Maybe it is because I was rushed to do it.  Maybe it was because I was exhausted all day.  It could even be ( I know this is early to say this in the 30-day challenge) that doing my make-up and hair will not get me to my goals.

Day 1 (Part 1)

The picture above is me, no make up and my hair just washed.

Today Is my first day of my 30-day challenge.  YAY!!!

I will be doing my make-up and hair after I attend the gym each day.  I tried, ONCE, doing it before the gym.... BUT that sucked!  I will never do that again.

My actual posting of my challenge will be at night, normally I will not have a chance to write a post until after I get home from work.
I work evenings, so I do not get home until after 1am in the morning.

I hope you look forward to seeing my post tonight!  :-)

I am nervous and a little excited for this challenge.

Intro!!!

So...

On February 22nd, I start my 30-day Make-up and Hair Challenge.

I am doing a 30-day Make-up and Hair challenge to hopefully achieve a better me!!  I like how I look naturally.  A better me is the me that is recovering from a couple years of depression.  I was depressed for about two years and I have recovered for the most part.  I am hoping that this challenge will give me that additional push to FULLY recover! In addition, my main goal to achieve this is to spend more time on myself.  Taking the time away from everything and everyone to appreciate myself.  I think spending time on myself will do that ever push!

I found templates to help me along.

One of them being easier to find than the other.

The 30-day hair challenge, I actually found a website for 30 hairstyles in 30 days. It has bun and braid challenges.  Now, my hair is of medium length.  I am not used to this length AT ALL!!!! I chopped off my long hair, layered, beautiful hair a couple of months ago.  I did this due to wanting to get rid of all of my split-ends and to go grow it back out for my wedding.  So doing my hair is most definitely going to be harder to keep up with than my make-up.

For the make-up, finding a template was hard... there are SO many out there.  My go to website, of course, is Pinterest!!  Ladies, I am sure you are aware of this website.  It is amazing for to go information and ideas.  As for finding a 30-day make-up challenge template.... THERE ARE SO MANY!!!  So I am doing a couple of them.

If you have Pinterest.  I have pinned the templates that I will be following onto my make-up and hair boards.

I am excited!

I have three days to prepare and get the supplies I am missing to do this challenge.

I do plan to post pictures for each day and HOPEFULLY the products I will be using to help me complete this!!!
